Lives and works in Berlin
Ahmed Ramadan grew up in Syria and studied at the University of Fine Arts Damascus. Experiencing a short detention of the secret services was a turning point. This experience, the situation in Syria and the life in Germany are shaping Ahmed Ramadan's work. Violence, the loss of homeland, exodus and destruction are the main topics he concentrates on. In the free and abstract work surrounding at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin strengthened his idea that an image of reality cannot reflect it with all its different aspects - it needs an abstract dimension. By doing this, he develops art works, in which different levels of his feelings and the real world merge into each other.
